In Quebec the hydro company is offering a mail in rebate on the purchase of CFLs. It's only brands with Energy Star (or whatever that logo is) which I should have checked before picking some up at Ikea.

Do you find that the light they emit is whiter than regular light bulbs?

Quebec is definitely ahead of the curve compared to the Maritimes. Hurrah for buying bulbs, good for you!

Yes, the quality of light is different, Marsha says she prefers the quality of light they emit, but at least one person I talked to in my building said they didn't like it. However, they are now making at least two varieties of bulb emiting different qualities of light.

Are you visiting in October??

Unfortunately I think I'm not getting home until Christmas time :(
My vacation is really funny this year because you have to go through the fiscal year to get it, even though they're always bragging about how much vacation you get! However, the office closes after the 22nd and doesn't reopen until the 3rd.

Do you have any recommendations on rechargeable batteries? Once upon a time I had a discman that actually came with a chargeable battery -- and a power adapter that would both function as the power source of the discman and recharge the battery. I thought that was such a nice design.

Too bad! I'm not sure what our plan is for Xmas, but we should be around Wolfville at some point, at least. Email is probably the best way to get in touch with me.

I actually haven't done much reading on rechargeable batteries, but you should recycle them when you're finished (not throw them out). There's even on Ad running on public tv right now about where to recycle your rechargeable batteries (in HRM).

Talk to you soon!
